Young Um trio
Young Um Trio perform a wide variety of styles, from unique composition with odd time metre leads to trio free improvisation, to tango feel, bossa, swing, beautiful ballads and originals. Young’s compositions draw inspiration from her experience, imagination and wit. Thoughtful interplay between members and high level of musicianship are pleasurable also there are classic influenced melody and harmony through her originals and performances.
Piano: Young Um Korean- Born jazz pianist Young Um is a very high profile artist who has performed extensively through New Zealand, appearing at all the major arts and jazz festivals along with her band of this country’s foremost jazz musicians and her performance have been consistently impressed with her impeccable technique and her refreshing interpretations of jazz standards and original material. She found Young Um Trio and released debut album “distance” (2011)
Drum:Jason Orme
Bass: Tom Dennison is a prominent 24 year old Auckland session bass player. Deeply rooted in the jazz tradition, Tom has nevertheless has become a go-to ‘bass for hire’ for a number of musical endeavours including musicals, pop opera, rock, variety shows and session work. His debut album Zoo has been released through Rattle Records.
