Korean Garden Trust Newsletter (22 July 2010)

Dear Family and Friends of the Korean Garden Trust,

The weather has been unpredictable in the past few weeks.  I hope you are taking good care of yourself this winter.

1.      The Korean Garden Trust Newsletter now distributed in English

  • The Korean Garden Trust commenced distributing the newsletter in English since 9 July 2010.  This is to better inform the Koreans, local Kiwis and supporters all over the globe regarding the updates on the Korean Garden Project.
  • The Trust distributed the English newsletter to about fifty supporters/friends of the Korean Garden Trust in Auckland, including the Prime Minister John Key, some Ministers, Members of Parliament, City Councillors, the Mayor of North Shore City, distinguished businesspersons and Korean War Veterans.  The Trust plans to continue expanding the readership of the English Newsletter.
  • The first English newsletter dated 9 July 2010 can be accessed from our homepage www.koreangarden.co.nz.  We warmly invite your feedback.

2.      Prime Minister mentions the Korean Garden Project during visit to Korea

  • The Prime Minister visited Seoul, Korea early July 2010.  According to Youngin Park, the President of the Korea-New Zealand Association, the Prime Minister had an informal talk about the Korean Garden project at the banquet dinner at the Korean Presidential Residence (the Blue House) along with Richard Mann, the New Zealand Ambassador in Korea and Youngin Park.

3.      Park cleaning (see attached photographs)

  • The scheduled park cleaning took place in the Unsworth Park located in Albany, Auckland.  The Park is sizeable and was kept in immaculate condition from the residents’ support.  We did not have to collect too much rubbish from the park.
  • As requested by the North Shore City Council, we will gather at the Rosedale Park in Albany in August.
  • If you wish to take part in this park cleaning project, please come to the carpark on Jack Hinton Drive beside Rosedale Park.  Jack Hinton Drive is accessible from Paul Matthews Drive or Rosedale Road.  Saturday 21 August 2010 from 10.30am – 12.00pm.

4.      The Korean Garden Trust Spokesperson Sunghoon Park temporarily resigns

  • The Spokesperson for the Korean Garden Trust, Sunghoon Park has decided to run for the Local Elections on 9 October 2010.  For this reason, he has decided to temporarily resign from his positions as the Spokesperson and the Head of the Public Relations Team at the Korean Garden Trust.  He remains as the member of the Board of Trustees of the Korean Garden Trust, and he is expected to rejoin the Korean Garden Trust in about three months’ time.
  • This temporary resignation, as explained in Sunghoon Park’s Statement, is to focus on preparing for running for the Local Elections and to stop the Korean Garden Trust being influenced in any way by his political activities/ political orientation.  He announced his temporary resignation on 29 June 2010 at the Korean Garden Team Leaders Meeting.
